Facts About Colors

Colors are really waves of light of different lengths. When a ray of light passes through a prism, it is bent. Then, because a prism is triangular in shape, when it passes back into the air on the other side of it, the light waves cannot bend back to form the white light again. Because the waves of sunlight are of different lengths, different colors are produced. The long waves are bent the least and the short waves are bent the most. So, the colors of the spectrum are always in the same order. Red is the longest wave length and is always on top. Next, according to wavelength, are orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Violet is the shortest wavelength and is always at the bottom of the spectrum or rainbow.

How to mix colors

The three primary colors are RED, YELLOW, and BLUE. When you mix red and yellow together, you get orange. When you mix red and blue together, you get purple. And when you mix yellow and blue together, you get green. ORANGE, PURPLE and GREEN are called the secondary colors.
