Dear friends and
Family,
I'm
sorry for how long it's been since my last e-mail. Once again I hope that
this letter brings you hope and encouragement for what our Lord Jesus is
doing.
It's been a while so here's some of the things that have been going on in my
life: I'm Engaged!!! Well, not really, but now that I have your attention
here's what happened in NZ
Touchdown: We arrive in the land known to the locals as "Aotearoa" but to
haoles like you and me its New Zealand!! Firstly, New Zealand is the most
beautiful place I have ever been to. And it's not like I come from LA. I'm
from Hawaii, so I know what beauty is. How can I put this? New Zealand is
like if Hawaii and Australia were to have a baby that's what it would look
like. NZ is so green it reminds me of Hana, but more rolling hills. You
can not look outside and not be in awe of our Creator's artistic designs.
Just like you can't look at a painting and say there was no painter who
painted that! The people here also so beautiful, once you get past them
not sounding like big mokes. They are so full of respect and so hospitable,
they definitely still have the aloha spirit.
Prior to coming, our team prayed about what kind of
message God wanted us to bring them. And we got the word "family" and the
scripture Malachi 4:6, "He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their
children and the hearts of the children to their fathers."
We stayed at this place called the Atomic Centre which is run by Youth For
Christ and it's pretty much every kid's dream. It's this big warehouse
with an indoor skate park, indoor soccer/netball, pool table, ping pong,
basketball, tons of video games and a cafe and snack shop! Woo hoo!!
So we
decided to put on a event for the youth that would be like coffee nite
with some live music, followed by a open mic stand-up comedy; which
consisted of me telling stories of me pooing my self. I mean, I was
desperate to bring souls to heaven!! After that it was followed by a
video that our very own Justin Bills made on the topic of family. It had a
testimony from a girl on our team named Malia on how God worked in her
life after her mother left her.
After that I felt like I was supposed to
share my testimony on how me and my dad's relationship was super rocky
'cause of all this bitterness I had against him, from promises not kept
and I would always compare him to other dads. But the truth was, man will
always let you down 'cause there not perfect like God. So I shared some
more on how my sister passed away last February and how that was a huge
wake-up call for me and through that sucky circumstances God healed me and
my dad's relationship and how life's way to short to spend it angry. I
think a lot of kids got touched that nite and I got to pray with this one
kid who had some issues like that with his old man.
But that's not the
coolest thing that happened that night. I forgot to mention that all the
kids there were middle-class white kids that already had an idea of who God
is. So what happened next is we incite the local street kids, that are all
Maori and came from broken homes and dropped out of school. I mean these
kids are hard. They roll their own cigarettes! But it was way rad because
we got to minister to them hard core and we had a lot of fun freestyle
rapping with them.
At the moment I'm back in Australia, finishing up outreach and then we
have debrief next week and then off to the next thing God has for me. I
should be back for Christmas. I can't wait to see yall. Thank you so much
for all your prayers and support I could definitely feel the difference!!
If you could keep me in prayer tho' for the future, 'cause I don't really
know exactly where God wants me next, so, I guess for some clarity. Thanx
again! I love yall !!
